Are You Trying To Be Lonely
ANDY LEWIS & PAUL WELLER

The Modfather Paul Weller has gone back to his Northern Soul roots in some style on the forthcoming single, ‘Are You Trying To Be Lonely’, to be release on Red Disc Records in November 2007.

The single was co-written with Acid Jazz star Andy Lewis as one of the tracks which will appear on Lewis’ second album, ‘You Should Be Hearing Something Now’, due for release in Autumn 2007.

Andy Lewis, who made his name in the 90’s as founder of the legendary Blow Up club in Wardour Street, knew that Weller was a fan of his first album, ‘Billion Dollar Project’, and, after bumping into Weller at a concert, handed him some demos for the new project.

Two weeks later, Weller contacted Lewis at 3.00am to saying he loved the demos and had some ideas that he wanted to contribute to the album. A date in the recording studio was quickly arranged and the result was the joint-penned Northern Soul future classic, ‘AreYou Trying To Be Lonely’, which is set to become one of the songs of the summer.

Paul Weller’s natural ability for penning classic Northern Soul tracks was highlighted only last summer, after a song written when he was just 15-years-old was recorded and released by the critically acclaimed soul band Lord Large. The single, ‘Left, Right &Centre’, featured one of Weller’s idols, Northern Soul star Dean Parrish on lead vocals.

Andy Lewis’ album, ‘You Should Be Hearing Something Now’, is scheduled for an autumn 2007 release on Acid Jazz Records and, in addition to the Paul Weller collaboration, sees collaborations with doyenne of the free festival circuit, Clare Nicholson, sixties soul and mod legend Jimmy James, as well as Dexy’s frontman Kevin Rowland.
